How to Register as an Associate Member on the Pathway to Fellowship (AM-P)
Applications for training in 2027 will open on 26 October 2026 and close on 14 December 2026. Places are limited and assessed on eligibility and on a first come, first served basis.
Step 1 — Check your eligibility
Download and read the ASBP Standards for Training and Competence of Breast Physicians and ensure you satisfy the criteria for becoming an Associate Member on the Pathway to Fellowship (AM-P) — see Section 4.
You must be a current Associate Member of the ASBP before you can register to train. If you are not yet a member, visit our How to Become a Breast Physician page to apply for Associate Membership.
Step 2 — Find a supervisor
Make contact with a suitable supervisor in your workplace and request that they supervise your training. You should share the ASBP Standards for Training and Competence of Breast Physicians with your supervisor so they understand the requirements and commitment involved.
If no Breast Physician is available in your workplace, use our Find a Breast Physician directory to locate an ASBP Fellow who may be able to supervise you.
Step 3 — Complete the registration form
Complete the Pathway to Fellowship Application Form online. You’ll need to have read the ASBP Standards for Training and Competence of Breast Physicians, and discussed the requirements with your proposed Primary Supervisor (and Co-Supervisor, if applicable) before you begin. Once you submit, your supervisor(s) will be sent a secure link to review and sign off electronically — you don’t need to print, sign, or email anything yourself.
Step 4 — Await confirmation and pay your registration fee
Once your application has been reviewed and accepted, you will be invoiced by the ASBP for the registration fee. The registration fee is a one-off payment, reviewed annually at the discretion of the Society.
Fee guide: The 2026 registration fee was $2,100 AUD. Fees are reviewed annually.
On receipt of payment you will be given access to the ASBP Training Portal, where you and your supervisor/s will be able to access training modules, resources, and assessment forms. You will also be:
- Allocated to a Supervisor Peer Review Group (SPRG)
- Advised of the due dates for submission of evidence of progression (every 6 months)
- Given the SPRG mid-year and end-of-year meeting dates
Step 5 — Annual fees
The following fees apply each year of training, reviewed annually at the discretion of the Society:
- ASBP Associate Membership fee — payable annually (2026: $205 AUD)
- Annual Training Review fee — payable by 1 February each year of enrolment. This fee covers the administration and meeting costs of the bi-annual SPRG review and the ASBP Board’s annual review of trainee progression. (2026: $550 AUD)
All fees are in AUD, unless the trainee practises in New Zealand in which case fees are in NZD.
